Live and let live – Live your life and let other people do the same!
There’s a sentence that comes to my mind everyday… it’s part of my culture and it’s probably part of my education too.
I know… the attempt to repeat such a common concept might look stretching at first glance, but then I wonder: why does it come to my mind so many times?
Maybe because it pushes me more and more to the attempt to suggest what’s right and what’s wrong; or maybe because I can’t “digest” those Coaches who promise miraculous solutions supported by useless sentences like “what to say”, “what to do”, by miraculous recipes that inevitably result into “how to always live a happy life”; Coaching (many of you have already read it on other posts), it’s not founded neither on prescriptions… nor on miracles!
Let’s make it clear: live and let live is a postulate that must start from the belief that all people must live respecting their own values. Then… how could we forget the fundamental rule of intrinsic motivation: “If I want to do it, it’s for me; if I must do it, it’s for other people”.
During these years, I’ve deeply understood that inner motivation depends on the freedom to choose (not on what other people suggest).
The main goal of Coaching is creating awareness, responsibility and self-trust… just be careful: it is possible to choose responsibly only within a frame of knowledge of self, of other people and of the context you live.
The study of Coaching and years of experience make me believe that life improves when people manage to take all the responsibilities for everything they say or do; true growth takes place after the integration of thoughts and of the way to face life.
